TRAVEL AND STYLE HIGHLIGHTS FEATURING REDBUBBLE!
Just before I left for my trip, I packed some choice accessories. It seems I’m not the greatest at packing light (I am so, so sorry to all my hosts while abroad, for my stupidly heavy suitcase.) But the pieces with the biggest impact to my overall look each day, were actually the lightest. That’s all thanks to the fine people at Redbubble and their gorgeous Art in Motion campaign: a new womens street style line, showcasing the work of some truly brilliant independent artists.
When I look back at one of my earliest blog posts featuring Redbubble, I feel that both this blog and the company have evolved by leaps and bounds, this latest collection being a perfect example of that.
Redbubble reached out to me about showcasing some pieces from their new collection. I saw my epic trip as the perfect opportunity to do just that. I wouldn’t blog about something I didn’t love, and it was love at first sight when I saw these pieces. The “Wings” butterfly pouch by Cassia and “Peacocks” scarf by Andrea Lauren–in addition to being stunning— really resonated with me emotionally.
I felt that the butterflies represent the many facets of my personality, and were symbolic of my flying abroad, going on this journey, socializing all over the place. Bonus: The artist, Cassia, is in fact based in the UK!
My being a bag lady, I thought I’d prefer the larger pouch, but the smaller size not only ended up able to hold everything I needed : Passport, cash, phone, mirror, lipstick… even shades (!!); but the small scale also made it much more suitable for evening.
The peacocks were also symbolic. I took their representation a step further when I wore the scarf out to tea and cake at the famed Maison Bertaux . The scarf and the place were me paying homage to The Girl at Midnight. A beautiful new YA Fantasy novel by the brilliant, violet haired Melissa Grey.
In a book about warring races of bird (Avicen) and dragon (Drakarin) people, one of the standout characters is the peacock feathered, Jasper. And this renowned French Patisserie in the heart of London–a location frequented by other leading characters, including the book’s heroine, served as the perfect backdrop. One of many gorgeous scenes that played well against the accessories with their gorgeous, bright color palettes and whimsical motifs.

If you want an expertly crafted cocktail followed by a flavorful, melt in your mouth dish, go to The Salon at the Blythswood. I approve of what the Scots think Brooklyn tastes like, and even the menus with their inlaid tweed are gorgeous. #latergram #foodporn #Sellysuktrip #Glasgow #duck #theblythswood
FINALLY, BACK HOME IN BROOKLYN….
